At Waterloo First UMC, we have much to be grateful for, and I want to begin by saying that I am grateful for you. It’s because of you that Waterloo First UMC is the welcoming and grace-filled congregation that it is. Your faithfulness and generosity continues to make a difference in the lives of many people in our neighborhood, throughout the Cedar Valley and beyond!
This year we have been celebrating 170 years of ministry. Throughout these 170 years it has been clear that God is with us, helping us to share joys and heartaches with one another, leading and inspiring us to be a church that is reaching out to the community to provide a place for spiritual growth through a caring, inviting environment.
As we’ve looked back and celebrated 170 years of mission and ministry with grateful hearts, we also look forward to the future of hope that God has for us and for our church. For 170 years, Waterloo First UMC has been a gift from God to our community, and a gift to each one of us. From the inspiration and hope we find in worship, to our dinners with our neighbors, the joy of Musicmania and Me, and so much more, our church is a gift because we share our gifts with one another.
I am grateful for everything you do for our church in the name of Christ, and I cannot thank you enough for giving your time, your talents, your gifts, service and witness, all for the sake of Christ, making sure that our church is reaching out to the community to provide a place for spiritual growth through a caring, inviting environment. I am grateful for you, and for everything that God blesses us with at Waterloo First UMC.
Please prayerfully consider how you will be in mission and ministry at Waterloo First UMC. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” I pray that your heart feels cheerful, grateful, when you remember the blessings that God has given you and all of us, and the blessings that we can share and celebrate together. Your faithful stewardship, your many gifts, and your presence and witness in our church makes all the difference and we wouldn’t be the church we are without them. I look forward to the future of hope that God is leading us into and the many ways that we will be faithful and grateful together as we follow Christ.
Grace and peace,
